She's done an amazing amount of genre work!
She's married to Brad Pitt!
My Significant Other hates her! (For all four reasons)
I love her. (For the first three reasons)
Does she like playing little sisters?
Gugu Mbatha-Raw first came to the attention of American genre audiences as Martha Jones' (fellow Femme FantastiqueFreema Agyeman) younger sibling Tish on Doctor Who.
And, when JJ Abrams cast his recent series UnderCovers, Gugu auditioned for the role of Samantha Bloom's kid sister Lizzy!
Apparently, Abrams thought "Kid sister? The hell with that! She's the LEAD!"
Wise man, that JJ!
She was the best thing about the show! ;-)
Besides doing a lot of genre tv (see below), this graduate of the acclaimed Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts performed to rave reviews both on the London stage and Broadway including Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and Ophelia in Hamlet (which went from the West End to Broadway)!
A Fantastic Femme to watch, which we can now do on the new Fox series Touch!
Genre credits include... Touch (Clea Hopkins) Odd Thomas (Viola)
Ana Claudia Talancon started out by performing in Mexican soap operas, doing pages and pages of heavy, emotion-wrenching material on a daily basis.
It's an excellent, albeit brutal traing ground for any performer.
Many fall by the wayside, burned out by the pressure, but not Ana! If anything she endured and prospered!
From there, she's moved on to mini-series like andTerminales and both Spanish and English-language feature films including Love in the Time of Cholera, receiving both fan acclaim and nominations for multiple awards!
She has a bright future, and I, for one, eagerly await her next appearance! ;-)
